New Phnom Penh Airport, Cambodia

On December 9, 2021, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen inspected the new Phnom Penh Airport project in Cambodia, built by Shanghai Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. Leveraging its technical advantages and management experience, Shanghai Harbor was designated as the general contractor for the airport's ground treatment project. This is the latest major international airport construction project undertaken by Shanghai Harbor, following similar projects in Shanghai, the new Hong Kong International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand, and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia.
The new Phnom Penh International Airport is located in Kandal Province and Takeo Province, with a total investment of $1.5 billion. The new Phnom Penh International Airport project covers an area of about 2,600 hectares and is primarily designed to serve the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. The construction of the new airport will not only promote the positive development of Cambodia's tourism industry and attract more international tourists and investors, but will also connect major economic circles, making business travel and cargo transportation more convenient and faster, and further promote the development of related industries.
